Israel

I am Karina, a new immigrant since March 2022 in Israel. I would like to tell you briefly about my decision to make aliyah. A few years ago my brother and his wife decided to pursue their dreams of “Returning to the Promised Land (Israel)” and starting a new life and as a result I am fortunate to say that today I have 3 wonderful nieces. They are my most precious treasure, their affection and unconditional love fill my soul. My brother always told me how wonderful it was for him to live in Israel, how calm they feel and how happy they are. That is why, in the year 2020, together with my mom, we started the Aliyah process.

I can’t say that changing countries, learning a new language and adapting to a new culture is an easy task or a random decision, but one of the reasons that gave me the courage to make such a big change was that I didn’t want to to continue to be away from my family, and I honestly always felt like home in Israel.

Some time ago, I read a text that I loved and made me think a lot, and a phrase that especially caught my attention was: “He who does not risk does not… nothing. Neither win nor lose. He neither suffers nor loves. What if we haven’t seen the most beautiful things yet? … Because there is only one life, and we have to live it as we dream it”…

Today, I am happy to be in Israel fulfilling my dream, learning the Hebrew language and grateful to life for being able to share a piece of my heart with you, which is the love of cooking and for bringing joy and happiness to homes. .

It is not just about the pleasure of eating something delicious, but about enjoying the small pleasures of life.

The beginnings

I am Karina, born in Argentina and I would like to tell you a little about my beginnings in this beautiful profession.

I owe my taste for cooking to my grandmother, a native of the island of Rhodes, in Greece, who, due to World War II, had to leave her country of origin with her family and take refuge in Argentina. She spent a lot of time with her when she was a child and she was the one who was in charge of preparing the food for all the Jewish holidays, so the kitchen was her favorite space. From her hand I learned to cook typical Greek and Jewish foods, but what I liked the most was when she cooked various Arab dishes and sweets. All that world gave me a lot of peace!!!

Years passed… and in 2004, I went to live in Mexico where I began my studies for a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and also a postgraduate degree in Management Skills, since I have always liked numbers! but I never left the kitchen. In the years that I lived there, I learned many Mexican food recipes, I always cooked for my family and friends. They were wonderful years and an unforgettable experience.

In 2011, I returned to live in Argentina again with new dreams and projects, I began to work in multinationals and in several companies, but always with the feeling that something was missing, I did not feel that passion to get up every day. motivated by the work he did. Years passed and it was in 2014 when I resumed cooking classes and Arab desserts with a great chef, Nelson Wejkin, in the Argentine Jewish community, with whom I stayed talking for hours about food and all the places that he I had traveled cooking, countries like Israel among others… and I will never forget that day when he told me “you have a good hand for cooking, you shouldn’t waste it”. It was at that time that I decided to study the leg that was missing, pastry.

It started as a hobby and, over the years, it ended up being my profession. I felt that I had found the passion for what I was doing and had the skill in my hands, but what made me the happiest was being able to share those sweet moments with my friends and family. But not satisfied with that, that same year I decided to start studying cake decoration, take various chocolate and confectionery courses and, among other things, I started selling by word of mouth and then through social networks, but without abandoning my permanent job as business administrator

From 2016 to the present, I continue to perfect and certify myself in different pastry matters, cake decoration and I also started the craft stage, such as making dolls and ornaments. I think I had never felt so happy, so I had to make an important decision in my life: continue in my comfort zone working as a Budget and Management Control Analyst or start my own business, which is what gets me out! a smile every day when you wake up!

In October 2017, I finally decide to quit my job as an Analyst and start this wonderful venture called “Suspiros Patisserie”. Every day I find new recipes, look for new ingredients, research, have fun… I could spend all day reading pastry books. That desire to share something rich, to express sensations and emotions through a culinary creation, is what motivates me to the pleasure of innovating.

Suspiros Patisserie loves sweet shared moments. Always ready to bring sweet things to the event of your choice.
